  1. Board Feet Per Pallet Type:
    • Standard Softwood: 23.5 BDFT
    • Standard Hardwood: 14.4 BDFT
    • Heavy-Duty Softwood: 47 BDFT
    • Heavy-Duty Hardwood: 30.5 BDFT
    • Used Pallets: 0 BDFT (100% reclaimed material, no new trees cut)
  2. Tree Yield Assumptions:
    • One mature softwood tree (pine plantation, ~14-inch DBH) yields 175 board feet.
    • One mature hardwood tree (select-cut forest, ~18-inch DBH) yields 275 board feet.
  3. Cost Savings Estimations:
    • Waste reduction assumes a 50% cost reduction relative to material savings.
    • Cost savings are an approximation and do not account for logistics, labor, or other supply chain factors.
  4. Rainforest Conservation Impact:
    • Wisconsin Lumber donates 1% of total spend to Rainforest Trust, which based on 2024 results, protects approximately:
      • 0.70 rainforest acres per $1 donated
      • 210 tropical rainforest trees per $1 donated
    • Customers who donate 1% of their annual spend will receive:
      • If using Wisconsin Lumber → 3x impact
      • If using Other Supplier → 0.25 acres and 77 trees per $1 donated (baseline donations without any multipliers/matching)
  5. Matching Donation Rules:
    • Wisconsin Lumber automatically donates 1% to Forest Conservation and matches 100% of customer donations up to an additional 1% of their packaging spend, resulting in a 3x total impact when a customer donates!
    • If the Other Supplier is selected, customer donations still contribute to Rainforest Trust, but at a much lower impact rate.
  6. Dynamic Cost Adjustments:
    • If a donation to Rainforest Trust is selected, 1% of the adjusted annual spend is deducted from cost savings and added to the final estimated annual spend with savings.
  7. Results Are Estimates Only:
    • Real-world savings and sustainability impact may vary based on lumber pricing, sourcing practices, and conservation program updates.
    • Wisconsin Lumber reserves the right to modify donation ratios and calculation assumptions as needed.
