Wood packaging is an environmentally friendly, renewable, and sustainable form of packaging. It’s even been called “Nature’s Packaging” for a reason. We believe that when used efficiently, wood packaging is better than steel or plastic packaging.

Our Story

In 2008, Ryan Ziegler began working for a medium sized wood packaging manufacturer in Southeast Wisconsin. Ryan both directly and indirectly contributed to this wood packaging manufacturer more than doubling and tripling in gross sales and adding 8 locations across 3 states through multi-million-dollar acquisitions during his 16-year tenure. He was involved in information technology, operations, sales, and executive leadership. After ultimately being sold to private equity, twice, the company no longer shared the values Ryan felt were critical to his success in business and in life.  With gratitude for the opportunities the company had provided for years of his life, Ryan felt it was time to move on and founded Wisconsin Lumber & Pallet. 

Through the years, Ryan learned much about the lumber and pallet industry from recessions, wild market swings, hardwood shortages, used pallet shortages, record high softwood lumber prices; he learned about lean manufacturing, vertical supply chain integration, wood packaging design, material substitution; and from other capable and competitive wood packaging providers in new markets. Leveraging years of industry knowledge, we recognized the need for wood packaging solutions that prioritize efficiency in design, intelligence in sourcing, and world-class customer service.

Wisconsin Lumber & Pallet was born out of a desire to make a positive impact on both businesses and global forest ecosystems. The connection between forests and wood packaging is real, and something we often take for granted. While forests in North America have been managed well and grow in acreage annually, tropical South America and Africa have seen significant declines in their forestland.  Businesses can reduce costs and wasteful spending to help prevent the overconsumption of trees locally, but it will take extra effort for us to help prevent deforestation in other countries.  By purchasing through Wisconsin Lumber & Pallet, a percentage of the net profit of every sale supports reforestation efforts locally and globally – yes, our impact is small, but there is an impact.
