What Is ISPM 15 Certification?
To learn more about ISPM 15 specifically, see our ISPM 15 Export Compliance FAQ page. This page is to help you understand how to become an ISPM 15 certified company so you can stamp your own Wood Packaging Material (WPM).
Should I Become ISPM 15 Export Certified?
Sometimes it is best to work with a business that is already a certified ISPM 15 wood packaging provider, but there are situations where it makes sense to become certified yourself.
Businesses that build their own custom wood packaging with heat-treated lumber are ready for certification when the benefits outweigh the cost of working with someone else. If you don’t want to read about it, and would rather talk to someone on the phone, contact us.
In general, it makes sense to become ISPM 15 certified when:

Custom?
Your products are custom and require custom wood packaging built at your facility to ship.
Customers?
Your customers continue to expand overseas and need to count on you.
Sales?
Export sales are growing and nothing will hold you back. You’ve increased to monthly or weekly export shipments.
Expense?
If you already build your own packaging, it can save money becoming certified yourself.

ISPM 15 Compliance Process
The fact that you’re still reading this means you’re pretty serious about becoming certified. Your best option is to simply call us. At no charge to you, we can help talk you through your options. We have been in the industry a long time and are happy to help.
The American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) Wood Packaging Material (WPM) program currently has over a dozen independent third-party agencies approved/accredited by the ALSC Board of Review.
Wisconsin Lumber & Pallet is willing to help guide you to the accredited agency that is right for you. Once you’ve been introduced, they can provide information regarding becoming licensed to produce compliant WPM under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), ISPM 15 “Regulation of wood packaging material in international trade.”
“You are ready for certification when the monthly cost makes sense or waiting for a 3rd party becomes inconvenient.”
